If sabnzbd is inside the jail, where should I have it put complete downloads?

In the mnt volume, or the one inside the jail itself.considering that I have a mount point Will it even matter?

I have read that several times and it doesn't answer my question.

I can browse to

Z:\PluginsJail\myjail\media

and also to

Z:\Media

both show the identical same folders, files and content - does that mean I am duplicating everything I store and wasting space?

I'll explain a little.

The jail sits inside it's dataset and has no access outside of the jail. The way that you give the plugins access to outside data/storage space is by using mount points.

After all, if plugins can download stuff for you but there isn't a way to get the data out of the jail space there's no point to download it.

Thanks but should I set sabnzbd to store downloads in /mnt/Media or to inside the jail?

Actually I have given up on freeNAS, just found out that after all the time taken to set up plugins and miniDLNA, the bloody thing doesn't even auto refresh when you add a new file. Whats the point of that? Defeats the whole idea of accessing stored data!

Hi bingobango,
I am somewhat of a linux newb myself and just setup my FreeNAS 8.2 server this past weekend with SABnzbd, Sickbeard, etc... What I did was have all my media stored within the jail.. then setup my CIFS & AFP shares to point to the media folder in the jail. The only problem I'm having now is that when I reboot the system, I have to refresh the CIFS & AFP settings before I can see the shares on my windows & Mac machines.

I'm thinking of changing a few things around so that they start with a different level of permissions to solve that issue... but we'll see how that goes this upcoming weekend.

Good luck to you and don't give up just yet. It will get easier as you get more knowledge.
