Hello

I am close to lose my mind, searched all forums and watched all youtube videos, but was not able to found a solution... neither in manuals :(

I have set up a HP N54L with Freenas and Sabnzbd but I am not able to access the CIFS share with the downloads with a windows machine.

- I was not able to set the sabnzbd categories on the top level of the harddisk. the downloads are in mnt/HDD1/var/db/sabnzbd/complete on which i cant access. Can i set them in a folder on level .../HDD1/ ? like .../HDD1/books or something?

- how do i properly set up CIFS shares? all manuals I have found until yet were for other versions with other options that I have. I only get to set up guest account on which I have no rights to write, just to read

Your help would be much appreciated

First: What version of FreeNAS are you using?

Now, let's get to basics. Have you tried playing around with FreeNAS in a virtual machine or the like? More than likely, you FUBARed something while doing your Sabnzbd setup, but it's impossible to diagnose without more information. If you can successfully get a SMB share working on virtual FreeNAS instance, then perhaps that will point you at what you did wrong.

Yo, check out the options in SABnzbd under Folders.
I also went into the Jail config (in FreeNAS) and added a folder that's covered by one of my normal shares (see this pic: http://poopr.org/images/1b5i1phg2katr0qj0we.png)

One issue I had with it though, is that the permissions on everything in there is for the user of the jail, and not the user that's accessing it through smb, I got around this by setting the permissions for downloads to be 777. Not the best solution, but works for me :)
