Two separate FreeNAS set-ups on one network issue.
First off, I have my main FreeNAS up and running without any issues for general storage and Plex.
I am able to access my storage from any computer or DNLA client in my house, using JRiver and / or Plex
Now, I have (re)set-up my test FreeNAS. This time, I used my laptop (wireless) to set up storage and shares. All went well.
The issues at hand are that when I access the shared folders in my network on my laptop, I can only see the shares that were set up using my laptop. Why can I not see the shares (in my network) that are on my main machine when using my laptop. An vice-versa......when using my main computer, the only shares I see in my network are the ones in my main FreeNAS.
So, the question is......how come when I look at my network, regardless of which computer I am using, I can only see one or the other FreeNAS and not both, as they are (2) separate storage units ?
I just turned on my HTPC to see what I would find....only the shares from my main FreeNAS.
I read something about Rsync dealing with this issue (if I interpreted the article correctly) But, I was hoping to have 2 separate storage areas,
http://thesolving.com/storage/how-to-sync-two-freenas-storage-using-rsync/
I thought, perhaps , I would see something like “FreeNAS” and “FreeNAS (2)” listed in my network.
Also, am I able to change the name of my FreeNAS to something else ?
Any insight as to what is actually going on would be greatly appreciated.
