Yeah, it's because when we speak we tend to speak it as "toud' suite" (same thing when we say "it's" instead of "it is" for example) :)

And I believe I've noted such a term in some old movies or old tv shows and it always sounded to me like "too sweet" which really didn't make sense to me.

As for the changes and any possible warning to you, since I modify a live style it is entirely likely that users will be surprised- especially if I do something that causes wild changes, or if I must make something blue in the midst of all this red (so I can see which blasted thing it is). The commentary on my progress is offered for those who would follow it or who might not be using the experimental style full-time, plus it is a handy list so i can take notes, keep notes, and know where I am in the intended modifications. I'm glad people like the theme.

IMHO the prior font choice was not exactly display friendly (I thought it was a bit ugly, pixelated etc) so i've switched to font-family: 'Noto Sans', 'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; as well as causing the size to be 1.09375em/1.4 as default. I have noticed considerable fallout from this change, some text is much larger than it had been, some is strangely unchanged, etc. The eventual intent is for sizes to be percentages drawn from any default size in em (I think thats how I was doing things on forums.pcbsd.org) and I would strongly consider having only one or very limited number of fonts used here. Where there is flexibility of font choice already I would want to leave close to 'as is' if at all possible.

Some may have noticed that I seem to "bounce around" from one area to the next without seeming to finish any entirely in one session. I get distracted by some details that poke out a bit more, so if I see something then I'll hammer it down. Its a whole lot of "down the rabbit hole" sort of a project, so I have to strictly limit my efforts to my free time _after_ work. When I adjust my EXTRA.css file at the forums, it is that same copy that I would validate again in my process of correcting poor CSS. Gee Wally the fonts really are big in some strange places... Thats okay Beav, its temporary fallout from other changes and I'm pretty sure the guy that done it is gonna fix it when he gets around to it. I also think a theme-mod for "extra large(r) fonts" is not a bad idea, it would be a bit more friendly than expecting those users who need, to zoom their view every time. *shrugs*

I suspect there may be other things modifying the font size. The supposed default font size in Firefox is 16px, is that what most everyone here has? Is the anomaly on my side and these fonts (as in this post) are not seeming to be rather large? Maybe I have to investigate how things are setup on forums.pcbsd.org in my themes there, to see if I've "missed a step" or something. The editor while I edit doesn't seem too large of text.

It certainly seems as if working on this theme will not be vastly simplified/consistent until after I heavily modify the structural templates involved. I happened to notice that the view a guest (not logged in) may get has a few issues. Just finished cleaning up the "sign up now!" button. There is always some other thing to fix, some other area I may not yet have seen.. and when I do wander into it there is something odd there. I sort of guessed at what I was getting myself into, to create a new theme, but its just amazing that something that *could* be rather simple has been built to be so exceedingly complex.. but not forever! :D

When I switch to the experimental theme, the fonts look extremely large to me.

I'll provide a counter opinion to your font switch: Georgia was explicitly designed for reading on screen, and I personally love the elegance and legibility it brings, so I wouldn't want to see us change. At the very least, if we must change fonts, there are other serif fonts designed explicitly for the screen, and I'd see us go to one of those over a horribly prototypical san-serif font.

I'd have to look around and verify things but whether it was Georgia or something else, it still rendered for me in an unpleasant fashion. There is still an issue with it seeming to be extra large but I switched the default fonts (html, body) to font-family: Palatino,Palatino Linotype,Palatino LT STD,Book Antiqua,Georgia, serif; at least for the time being. :)

You might also expect that using the browser's zoom capability would solve the overlap in the username below the avatar along the left side, it does not, so its probably another error in the CSS or structural template(s). If the size of the text is somehow related to the size of the containing box or not using the right format, either px or em or percent, for the situation.. I think px is worst. Anyhow, more things to hammer down. The experimental theme may not be getting much attention for a while longer, very long 11-day stretch at work, tho one single day off (yesterday).

Over at the PC-BSD forums, I discovered errors in my CSS which caused considerable frustration since the type of error caused new CSS to be ignored. This is a reminder that I should periodically validate my CSS and especially if I am having excessive difficulty getting CSS to apply.

A different post reminded me--could whatever forum themes are being developed use a font with full-height numerals, and particularly one where it's a bit easier to distinguish O0o?

Oh yes, zeros ( 0 ) are quite hard to tell apart from the letter o or capital O.

It does make for some interesting artistic potential.

I'm particularly fond of fonts like Anonymous Pro for this, but not everyone likes monospace fonts :p

Just FYI, Georgia Pro has full-height numerals. So we wouldn't have to move away from Georgia for the numerals if we didn't want to.

If I wanted monospace, I'd pipe the page to a text console somehow. Might be interesting for the CODE tags, though.

Ok. I tried to find a reasonable solution to readability, style, and the o0O issue. It appears that perhaps Mitr fits the qualities. Georgia or Georgia Pro for all its glamor has no slashed zero which IMHO is the easiest way to distinguish those three. However, until I figure out some of the oddness with this editor's CSS, there may still be confusion within it since I note the o0O issue remains (obviously it is not using Mitr). It was also interesting that adding the @import line to my EXTRA.css did not seem to assist with the import but including those lines in xenforo_reset.css succeeded. *shrugs*

The issue of fonts displaying a bit too large and the "broken appearance" of the profile box beside each post, I'm convinced it is within the swamp of CSS I have yet to clean up but I do not discount the chance the physical templates may also be imperfect.

Okee.. how in the "world of insanity" could an edit of this post somehow become considered a new post, essentially a duplicate but with the added text from the edit. **baffles**

New text to test whether the oddness described (duplicate post sort of effect) was caused by the save button that appears below the 'Options:' section. Well. Since that didn't happen maybe it was all some sort of WEIRD server glitch?

OKee.. I made some adjustments to font sizes. Since this whole thing tends to be a swamp of chaotic disorder (in the CSS etc), I am not entirely sure what modifies what BUT.. I used a percent size for the username in the poster-profile box to the left of each post, as well as the primary message content and quotes used within a post. These changes should at least hammer down some of the more nagging display issues for experimental theme.

Is it me or did the part that shows comments seem to get "less wide"?

I have no idea what this is "the part that shows comments" or where within the entirety of the forums it is displayed.

You are very welcome to be vague but if you describe in words this way I will not be able to make any adjustments if they're needed. Please either be descriptive and precise or include an image/screenshot with the applicable portion highlighted in some way; examples truly remove most questions. Also, since there are two distinct themes please identify which you are referencing. I might help with some modifications to the 'New Style' theme but the theme I work upon is 'experimental'.

Sorry, for being vague. I am using the "New Style" theme so this may not pertain to you then. In regards to the "Less Wide" I am speaking of where our comments are actually displayed.

Not sure but perhaps is it due to the "Forum Search" reducing the column size (please excuse any incorrect terminology)?

Ok yes. I believe that is the cause. Ordinarily I think that whole column would have content of some sort for both situations, so that there would not be an empty space below the "forum search" and "members online" boxes. I also notice that in experimental theme the members online box is not shown when a forum post/thread is accessed, so either the wide(r) message (comment) section is covering those boxes (forum search & members online) and column, or new style itself is doing something different by providing that column. It is something I would need to investigate and consider adjusting for experimental.

Personally I prefer the wider version, I think that recently it changed on the "New Style" theme and resulted in the narrower view. Maybe I am just not remembering correctly, but it recently struck me when I was reviewing some output that was in CODE Tags and noticed the text wrapping more than I recalled.
