2 m1015 all mirrors on seperate card

I have two m1015 cards inIT mode.

I'm thinking of using one for all data disks and one for all mirror disks.
This way if a card fails enough replicas exist to prevent data loss.

Any comment, pro and cons are welcome.

If an HBA card in true pass through mode "fails",
your pool would become degraded or unavailable in most cases.
(which, depends on your level of parity of course )
You should place more importance on having proper
redundancy with regular smart testing, rather than worry
about long odd hardware failures.
If you worry about your data like most of us, a good backup plan
would be the best way to guard against the concern you have stated.

I agree but I think it's a good idea because it cost nothing to change the order of connection of the drives and it's always good to improve reliability (plus for once it's entirely free) ;)

It's consistent with what Matthew Ahrens suggests for best reliability. Can't think of a downside, so why not? But I also agree with @BigDave.

Thoughts:

• After creating the pool, you'll have to manually move drives around your system to achieve this and manually manage it in the future. ZFS won't care either way.
• There is no distinction between "data" and "mirror" disks. They're all equal.
• HBA failure is unlikely to result in data loss (unless it starts writing garbage to the disks, which is unlikely).
