So I have two FreeNAS systems; one is for accessing data and the other backsup the main
I installed (at the time) version 9.3 when it came out. I did not upgrade, I used the full installation. I went through the whole process of set up via the questions. I created the volumes and set the permissions.
Windows 7 machines access the main unit and at times I can access the backup.
Today I was doing an update and I just went poking around to check my settings and when i got to my volume to see the permissions something has changed. My backup FreeNAS says:
Owner (user) - root
Owner (group) - wheel (this changed on it's own because it was the name of my group name I had created)
Permission Type - Unix (this also changed on it's own because I use Windows systems it was set to Windows. I have screen shots)
So I am not sure how this changed on its own and I am not sure how I should fix this (or just leave as is). My understanding to fix this is I think I need to turn off CIFS, go to the volume and change the permissions and the user group back to what it was and then turn on CIFS. But not sure, I can still access all the files and folders on the backup.
And how can this happen too? I am looking at the logs and I don't really see anything in there. My main FreeNAS is still the original way it was setup with the user/group and permission for Windows. So at a loss here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks
