Hello Everyone,

I have read a lot on this forum and from google on how to resolve this issue and have tried a lot of things but just can't get my plug-ins to work! I restarted my Server and now they won't start. I can still connect to my server, transfer files and everything else but I can't start the plugins. I go to plug-ins and they say off, I click to turn them on, it loads for a few seconds and then stays off....

Please offer any advice on this issue, I really want to get this working :( I miss my Plex server.

Seems like a common issue lately. Though I've never encountered it.

Mind trying something for me? Can you try disabling VIMAGE for your plugin jail, then on the NIC set it to an interface. Then restart the jail?

Thanks

Can you reproduce this with a newly installed plugin?

Have you ever changed ownership/permissions of your jails/plugins?

I will try a new plug-in today when I get home from work but in regards to permissions, they are all the same still. I doubled checked all permissions and they are all fully read/writable. I get home in 7 hours and will test it then.

I didn't ask if they are still the same, I asked if you ever changed them.
You saying they are fully read/writable makes it seem like you did change them.

Never change the ownership/permissions of your jail/plugin dataset. This will break the jail operating system and youll need to re-set them up.
Only ever change the ownership/permissions of datasets you mount into the jail.

Hello, they have not been changed since I originally set them up. And weirdly note, I have restarted the server a few times after setting the plug-ins up and they were working. This last time I restarted it, everything wont start again...

Usually "pam_start: system error" comes after permissions of the jail are changed.
can you show the output of the below?
Code:
ls -l /etc/pam.d/su

I will post it as soon as I get home and note, I followed the following guide to set up my plug-ins to try and ensure I didn't mess anything up.

I don't mind setting it all back up again if that fixes the issue, only took a couple hours (was cleaning during it) but I don't want this to happen again if I reset everything up.

Will post results when I arrive home.

It seems top happen to people once and a while. I'm not sure the exact cause, but often times people admit they changed ownership/permissions incorrectly.
Once you have a jail set up the way you want, I suggest snapshoting it to fall back on.

To give you some hope, it is possible to have a perfect downloading system. I've never had to redo my FreeNAS setup, it downloads exactly what I want, and performs exactly how I expect it to.

I will post that command when I get home and I totally forgot to snapshot it for fall back.... LoL at oversight haha.

To be honest I don't use it for downloading much, I'm currently ripping my MASSIVE blu-ray collection and use it over PLEX to all my devices. In regards to a "download box", I do use it for my Anime only because its' either not available here in states or is just SOOO expensive in a good format.

I try to support people behind movies and TV Shows by purchasing them ^_^

Thanks for the support by the way!

No prob, hope we can get to the bottom of this.

Most of the shows my family watches we get through cable, it's just a better experience to download them. Better quality, no commercials, and on-demand, lol.

Me too! By the way I typed those commands:

[root@freenas ~]# ls -l /etc/pam.d/su
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 364 May 5 08:21 /etc/pam.d/su
[root@freenas ~]# c

well that's what it should be, so I'm stumped to why/how it broke.
