Hello All,

Is ZFS able to be used in a mirror? I would rather not use RAIDZ1

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I read the documentation on system requirements and specifically the RAID section.

It states: For better performance, a mirror is strongly favored over any RAIDZ...

My question is can I have a "mirror" and still get ZFS?

I did answer "yes"

According to reading the documentation, the wikipedia article mentioned "as starting point" says
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zfs about Storage pools ):
"Block devices within a vdev may be configured in different ways, depending on needs and space available: non-redundantly (similar to RAID 0), as a mirror (RAID 1) of two or more devices, as a RAID-Z (similar to RAID-5) group of three or more devices, or as a RAID-Z2 (similar to RAID-6) group of four or more devices."

Which part did you find difficult to understand ?

Hmm, sorry. I missed the "yes" and the "starting point" reference to ZFS...

I will be more diligent in my reading next time.

Thank you for the answer.

Is there a way to mark [Resolved] on this forum?
