so I went to turn syslog on and am greeted that I have to purchase a SFT-DCMS-SINGLE license. really? just to enable syslog which should be a basic function of any enterprise device.

Huh? Syslog is on by default in FreeNAS. How did you try to enable it?

Not in freenas. From the board it’s self. If I’m in through impi and go into the settings of the board. I want those syslogs

You can read the IPMI log from the host.
