Do you have a backup of your configuration database?

No.

I haven't had it running that long and frankly, I was using it as my data backup...

Darn, I'm always behind on this stuff... well I hope my data is still intact, the OS was on a ssd but the data was on a bunch of IDE drives (non-OS data)

Well, guess I have to admit ...it's been running awhile...I just am not an expert at it... been using it but not learning it extensively....

Please post suggestions...

Can I re-install the OS ... and still access my data?

Data should still be fine. Probably just need to reinstall the OS. Some SSDs are not compatible for some reason. What brand was it?

You probably want to read through the useful links from my signature because there is a lot of great info in there.

It's a SanDisk. I would think it would work fine as it was working..unless the outage somehow damaged it...which ...being an ssd ..I wound't think so.

I don't remember how..exactly I had everything...if I re-install... should I look for zpools on my IDE's ... I don't remember how they were set up...the mount point for the NFS share was under /mnt but

Any suggestions or thoughts would help..like I said..I was/am no expert. I had set up some jails...but I doubt those will be recoverable... but let me know what you think..

I was able to do an import... and status

pool: freenas-boot
state: ONLINE
status: Some supported features are not enabled on the pool. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done,
the pool may no longer be accessible by software that does not support
the features. See zpool-features(7) for details.
scan: scrub repaired 0 in 0 days 00:00:08 with 0 errors on Wed Mar 13 09:45:08 2019
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
freenas-boot ONLINE 0 0 0
ada4p2 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
freenas-boot 3.20G 104G 64K none

freenas-boot/ROOT/default 9.55M 104G 847M legacy
freenas-boot/grub 7.17M 104G 7.17M legacy

I copied freenas-boot/ROOT/11.2-RELEASE-U1 to a folder on another computer

I may try the upgrade like the article mentions...

Let me know if there are anymore suggestions pls...

I'm no expert @ this...I've had zfs for sometime but I don't use it like I should ... :( or know it really well...

Ok well I blew this....

all I should have done...before the re-install was go into the bios/uefi and increase the timeout on the drive... seems it needed more time..after the power outage (duh...)

Ok now ...that I've got a fresh install... pls help me ..I reinstalled on my ssd but ... I still have my 4 ada drives...that I don't..want to wipe...

So... guess I'll see if I can see pools on them?

The config database is stored in the system dataset which is inside the pool by default, so once you import it you can recover you system configuration from there. There are multiple threads in the forum talking about where to find it. Once you find the config database and restore it the NAS will reboot and be right back where it was before the problem.

Chris,

Thank You for your help...

The server is a Leveno TS440

and from the bios/uefi log (not sure what to call it now ;) used to be the bios...)

it seems to have trouble writing to the ssd ...on most boots....

anyway I think the power-outage did mess up the ssd (@ least I hope that's what was messed up)... I thought changing the delay fixed it but I think I just got lucky... I rebooted and it got stuck...then again..and good again

It's up for now...I'll order another ssd but...the good news is that I was able to just import the FreeNAS pool and set up the NFS share...my data is safe...

So it's time to order an ssd ...

I'll leave it running and hope the new one gets here before I has to be rebooted.
