Hey guys, I have an issue that i cant seem to figure out. I have a scrub drive that I just use to store some non-vital items on. Well today I went to go and delete some items in the folder to make room for new stuff, and it wouldnt delete. Windows said it was deleting, but when done, file was still there. So I right clicked properties of the folder and saw that it was read only, hum weird, I thought. So I unchecked this box, windows changed the properties of all the files and folders. Heres where the weird part comes in. Now ALL the files are comming up as a folder. Whats even more odd, when right click properties of the folder, it shows that the size is 0 bytes and 0 files, but a few dozen folders. When I go into freenas webgui it shows the drive is full. any ideas what I did and how to fix??

Reboot FreeNAS server and see if the GUI then correctly reports the deletion.
BTW what version of FreeNAS are your running on that hardware please?

What do you mean by the drive is full? Is it 100% full? If so the file you want to delete might be to big to be deleted. Try removing smaller files first until you have enough freespace to delete the larger file. You can also just use the cli to truncate the file.

I guess i should rephrase what i said. The dataset is created in a drive. the drive is not full, but I set a limit on the data set to 1tb, and that filled. I went changed the limit of the data set to unlimited, but could still not delete anything. The whole drive is 91% used. Other date sets in drive work normal. Just having trouble with this one data set. i can no longer do anything, all files on data set appear to be folders, no longer files, cant delete anything. I get a message saying the file is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. windows reports 0 bytes being used, yet freenas gui shows used space as 1TiB. i have deleted the share in freenas and recreating it. changing owners and groups, nothing helps.

I would just delete the data using the cli. This won't really tell you what is wrong but it will fix your problem.

Do you have aux parameters set for smb?
