Hi

After years with Synologys I got fed up with their exclusion of third party parts and ended up here. I just finished building my very first system from scratch and boy that was an experience. Once I figured out how to power the mainboard properly, the GUI appeared and I am now enjoying a NAS without (artificial) limits. What a fantastic software.

I've been reading this forum for about a month quite intensely and there were so many useful tips such as RAM vs. L2ARC, how a RAID 10 would look like in ZFS, etc.. Thank you for all these great explanations and recommendations, it helped a lot!

cheers

Welcome to TrueNAS & the forums!

I'd suggest reading up on ZFS. And at some point requesting a review of your hardware and pool configuration.

There have been several new TrueNAS users that have made various mistakes. Some later leading to data loss because they did not know they made a mistake.
