I'm using three FreeNAS servers currently. Two are on 9.10.2 and one is running 11.0. In the lifecycle of most software it seems that initially the new version adds features but is so new that there may be bugs not present in the older version of software. As additional updates are released, typically the newer version also becomes stable, and is at some point is becomes the best version to use.

To the FreeNAS experts in the forum; where are we with regard to FreeNAS 9.10.2 vs. 11.0? Are you upgrading enterprise users to version 11.0 or are you staying with 9.10.2 for some additional period of time.

11 was originally just 9.10.3.

The biggest part of the upgrade is the base OS was upgraded to FreeBSD 11.

I would use 11-U3 in preference to 9.10.2.

Which is a pretty big deal, and never should have been planned for a point release. As the upgrade from FreeBSD 9 to 10 shouldn't have happened in a minor release either (9.3 to 9.10).

To be fair, it was a point release in name only.
