Hi guys - firstly, "Hello!" I'm new to the forum and have been shadowing it for the last few days gathering information... I have a lot of hardware that i tend to repurpose into a 24 bay NAS\SAN and noticed that the IBM M1015 is a very popular card on the forum, I just wanted to know whether it would be advisable to substitute 2 x M1015's for 2 x LSI 9220-8i's? Would there be any compromise at all in terms of bottleneck etc?

i cant find any good deals on the M1015 but can on the 9220-8i is the M1015 more flexible or more powerful? should i hold out until a few comes around?

Any advice would be amazing!

I can't find LSIs page on the 9220, but it seems like it's the M1015 with another label.

LSI seems to want the existence of a 9220 to be a secret. It's not the first time someone asks, but it's nowhere to be found on LSI's website.

If it looks like an M1015 and/or you can find LSI SAS 2008 markings, it might be interesting.

Other options are:

LSI SAS 9207
LSI SAS 9211
LSI SAS 9240 (RAID, needs crossflashing)
IBM M1115

Hello Ericloewe,

you throw in the LSI SAS 9207 HBA card (which I own). I've read a lot about reflashing the M1015, do you know if that is also neccessary for the 9207 card?

Thanks in advance,
Susanne.

The 9207 does not need crossflashing. You just need to flash P16 IT mode.
