First time setup. I'm running smartctl to test my disks. It says that the long test will take about 11 hours. How do I tell if smartctl is complete, vs active. ps -ef doesn't show anything, but when I look at the reporting tab in the GUI, it shows that my disks are very busy right now. is there a smartctl command I can run? anywhere I can see pending vs complete?

Kicking off a SMART test does not spawn a new processes, as the test itself is running on the drive.

You can see any test in progress and results by running: smartctl -a /dev/adaX .. replace adaX with your device ID.
