I'd like to get a UPS to allow my server to shut down properly. It should be able to handle a 400-500w~ load for a few minutes (long enough for the server to shut down), and interface (be compatible) with FreeNAS's UPS service.

The smaller and cheaper the better.

The choices I've been considering: APC BE750G/BR1000G, Cyberpower EC750G/850LCD. I'm leaning towards the Cyberpower EC850LCD or EC750G.

My Back-UPS Pro mostly works. All things considered, I'd say I'm happy with it.

what do you mean mostly?
There's the occasional "lost comms" message, followed by the "everything's fine now" message a few seconds later.

Oh, but it still works as a UPS. Either way, I think I'm leaning towards the EC750G for $67~ (compared to the 850LCD which is $82), and 450w should be plenty.
