What RAID/HBA card to choose?

Hello!

At this momemt I have this old setup:
- Chassis: CSE-846E1-R900B
- Backplane: SAS846EL1 rev 1.1
- Main board: X7DWN+
- CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5472 3 GHz
- Ram: 32GB ECC Ram
- Raid card: Areca ARC 1680IX-12 included BBU and 2GB ram
- Some HDDs (more incoming).

Is it a good idea to replace the raid card with several M1015? Or will the 1680IX in JBOD mode be OK?

Ditch the Areca!

The M1015 flashed to IT mode is the go to card. LSI/Dell/... have some HBA's that can be flashed to IT mode, too.
