Way to automatically switch on and off NAS

Hello ;)
I’m building my first NAS. I installed FreeNAS 8.0.1 RC2 amd64. I don’t want in order to my NAS works 24/7.
1) Is any way in order to NAS switches on automatically when I switch on supply?
2) And switch off? In GUI, I see button “shutdown”, but it is inconvenient, when I must use other computer in order to shutdown NAS. Can I switch off supply (isn’t it damage my NAS?) or use power button on NAS’ case?
Please help me ;)

EDIT:
Maybe "wake on lan" and "wake off lan" function? Is it in FreeNAS 8?
