There is a know bug where removing an L2ARC (failed or otherwise) may cause all pool IO to stop and your pool will be unavailable. There is an open bug report that has been accepted as a defect.

Also know that pool import may take longer than usual on the next import (likely a reboot).

This has been open since May 3rd. I am on TrueNAS 12.0-U3.1 and just took down my pool along with all of my VMs. This versions is being touted as "Suitable for critical uptime deployments" - https://www.truenas.com/docs/releasenotes/core/12.0u3.1/

I am a extremely disappointed that there is such an impactful bug without at least being noted in the "Known bugs" section of the release notes.
