Wonder if anyone would be kind enough to tell me if it's possible to do incremental backups on Exsi?
I have found that there is Changed Block Tracking (CBT) functions that can be enabled for incremental backups.
Next question is , if there is any smart/right ways to do backup of Esxi, I know the question might sound silly and all.
but please kindly explain to me nevertheless.
I believe my IT guy is using ghettoVCB. but as the size gets better, it's taking long and long to backup.
anyway if give me some pointers. Thanks

There aren't a lot of good free options for backing up ESXi. A lot of ESXi revolves around creating a money pit that will consume lots of licensing dollars out of your IT budget.

ghettoVCB takes a VM snapshot, dumps the vmdk's, and then deletes the snapshot (if you're lucky).

CBT is used by some of the commercial packages such as Veeam. The goal there isn't so much incremental backup capability as it is just reducing the I/O load on the datastores. Veeam has a free tier but basically no automation at that level. The good stuff is all pay-to-play as far as I know.
