Noob to freenas, moved from OMV because it was way too buggy for me and all the workarounds for ZFS.

New install, all my drives, and raids are mounted and formatted in ZFS.
I created a Ubuntu VM , everything is working great and now I want to add more drives. I basically want the OS / Data on different raids.

I got into the VM -> Devices ->Disk->

Zvol: ZFSSSD
mode: AHCI (also tried VirtIO)
Disk sector size: Default
Device Order:1010

Adds, however, when I reboot ubuntu I can't see it, it doesn't show in /dev when I cat /proc/partitions nor am i able to fdisk....

What am I missing?

Try setting the sector size in the VM disk properties to 512.

I removed all the disks, rebooted, added back newly created with 512 to VM ...still doesn't see it.

Delete the disks from vm
delete the zvols and re-created
re-added to VM still don't see anything other than the sda in /DEV

I am stumped

Your device orders are discontiguous. Try renumbering them so the disks contiguous with the other devices, i.e., 1003 and 1004.

That was it.... I assumed that the order could be any number as long as they were getting higher or lower.

Thank you @Samuel Tai
