There is a template for virtualbox in freenas.
I have installed that one... but it seems like the guests (vm's) only accepts i686 and not x64 cpu architecture
Is that correct ?

If your CPU doesn't support virtualization technology (and it's enabled in your BIOS/UEFI) then you are limited to 32-bit.

That picture shows it's supported. It doesn't however say it's enabled. If it *is* enabled then I'd say 'no clue what is wrong' as it works for everyone else. Of course, everyone else is using server-grade stuff so this may be a result of using desktop hardware with a server OS. :/

I've recently been running a few 64bit VMs in virtualbox on FreeNAS 9.2.1.7. I would say not booting 64bit VMs is prima facie evidence that your hardware doesn't properly support VT-x.
