Hi,

I am attempting to run a Windows server in virtualbox. One of the things it can do is automatically backup the windows clients. I am working on playing with it but I seem to be only able to make a virtual disk up to 512gb.

I am having a hard time googling that information & wonder if it is related to this version of Virtualbox (plugin one).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

My suggestion is to create a Windows CIFS share in FreeNAS, and then mount that share as a hard drive in Windows server. Thus negating the whole issue. This would also keep the data and the OS separate, which is always a good idea.

You may also check in to using one of the plug in backup solutions available in FreeNAS. Then you won't have to deal with the Windows issues, patch Tuesday, licensing, etc.

I have a windows CIF share setup on Freenas & while I can view/access the drive within windows, mapped or unmapped I dont have an option to backup on the network. I could do an Iscsi which would work but I hear it can be temperamental or a resource hog.

Is Iscsi the only option?
