Hi - there. Looking for some help please.

Spec:
Hp Microserver NL40, 4gb ram, 4 gb usb, 2 x mirrored 500gb Western Digital HDD

Server running stable for a year ( 8.3.1 amd 64 bit running on USB drive, no jails used ). Decided to upgrade last night to 9.1.1 but server didnt come back up.

I am currently 300 miles away from the box, but have a non tech helper at the other end :)

Screen grabs of current situation are :

I took a config backup before the upgrade.

Questions:
pretty simple one: What should i do now ?!

Thanks in advance.

First, I'd try a cold system boot.

Second, those errors look like a bad USB stick. So if the cold system boot doesn't fix your problem I'd get a new USB stick, flash it with 9.1.1, then just do a config restore. You did backup your config file before the upgrade just like the manual recommends, right? :P

Hi - thanks for the swift reply Cyberjock.
Cold reboot tried twice now (with a power cord unplug for 10 secs ).
I did take a config backup. As the config was in 8.3.1 should i flash the new drive with 8.3.1 or 9.1.1 ?
thanks.

You can do either one. 8.3.1 is probably a safer bet, but plenty of people have gone straight to 9.1.1 without problems.

Ok. Thanks.
Last questions :)
Why am i not getting the F1/F2 option to load the original OS?
Can i force that from the cmd line / mountroot prompt?
Anything else to try ?
Thanks.

Final update: installed 8.3.1 onto new sandisk cruizer 8gb, booted fine uploaded the backup config, ran the 9.1.1 update and apart from a couple of AD services needing re-starting, everything is running fine now.
Thanks for your help. Great forum !
