Folks,

after installing NTOPNG and Redis server on 9.2.1.7 in a standard jail (and running it), starting both Redis and NTOPNG fails after upgrade to 9.2.1.8. Any experiences with that? All belonging to 'shellshock'?

Start of redis failed with:
su: pam_start: system error
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/redis: warning: failed to start redis

ntopng failed with:
shared object "libndpi.so.1" not found, required by "ntopng"

you might want to run 'pkg upgrade'
it looks like some of your libraries/packages aren't matching.

not sure why you mention shellshock, it only affected bash which isn't installed with freebsd by default.

Hi Joshua,

thanks for the hint. I did 'pkg update' but still redis as well as ntopng did not come up. I mentioned shellshock, because I thought I read in the release info somewhere that shellshock was one of the reasons for vers. 9.2.1.8 as 9.2.1.7 should be the last one of the 9.2. series.

Seems there is no way around re-installing the jail...

why did you run 'pkg update' when I specifically said 'pkg upgrade'?

if that doesn't just reinstall the packages that are broken.

Just did a 'pkg upgrade' but that did not change anything. Redis and ntopng still fail.

I would assume reinstalling those packages would fix the missing library, but I don't know anything about them. or you could just setup a new jail.
