Hi trying to GUI upgrade to 8.3.1 from 8.3.0 r12825 using files and hash
7ba27900022b4e76852639367c91f2f964d932981bf84810d88d4d40770d6a21

But states "an error occurred" trying from a volume on freenas server seems to suggest issue with SHA256 Hash

Is it verified correctly.

Tried cuttting pasting and redownloading file to no avail... HELP!

Many thanks

What filename are you using?

The file should end in .txz. I'm guessing you made the common mistake of downloading the .xz file.

So I assume you've checked and rechecked that the SHA256 file you downloaded does match the downloaded .txz file and that the .txz file SHA256 checksum also matches the SHA256 file?

The advice commonly given to people that have issues is to upgrade using a CD. It'll prompt you to keep your old config.. just choose yes and it'll update. You can even do this on another computer if the FreeNAS server doesn't have a CD-ROM.

Same problem!
Using: FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-x86 (r12701M)
Upgrade to: FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-x86

File: FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-x86.GUI_Upgrade.txz
Checksum file: FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-x86.GUI_Upgrade.txz.sha256.txt

Error:
freenas manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:38] [MiddlewareError: Invalid firmware, wrong checksum]

Checksum is OK.

A checksum error is easy to identify. The sha256.txt info you pasted doesn't match the file you uploaded. In your case, I'd say there are 2 possibilities: The file is corrupted on your computer or the file was corrupted on upload to the FreeNAS server.

When you say Checksum is OK you mean you used a different program to verify that the sha256.txt is the same as the actual sha256 calculation using a program like Multihasher(Windows).

A checksum error is either a corrupted download or "user error". My advice is to download it again and verify the checksum with the actual checksum text file before uploading.
