Hi,
I would appreciate very much some help. I tried to upgrade my NAS from:
FreeNAS-8.2.0-RELEASE-p1-x64 (r11950)
to:
FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz using
FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz.sha256.txt
Build date: 2013-04-10

Installation routine tells me:
Jun 23 21:36:09 NewNAS manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:38] [MiddlewareError: The firmware is invalid]

Any idea what's wrong?

mille gracie,

Are you accidentally giving the GUI the .txt file?

You must give the GUI FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz, and then for confirmation the contents of FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz.sha256.txt

Hi,
I uploaded the file:
FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz

and copy-pasted the content of:
FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz.sha256.txt
into sha-key field
result: manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:38] [MiddlewareError: The firmware is invalid]

During next maintenance window I will try to upgrade to
FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-p1-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz
and in case of success later to the current release 8.3.1
keep you informed about status

Any idea what might be wrong in the direct way (or switch to higher loglevel)?

Thank you in advance

Update to
FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-p1-x64.GUI_Upgrade.txz
successful.

No need to go to 8.3.1 (driver support already in 8.3.0)

Thank you,
doc
