Hello
Im not sure if this is the correct section for this issue

I'm having a freenas box on a dedicated machine which is running fine so far. But this morning I experienced an unexpeceted reboot of the machine in the night.
I've checked dmesg, last and all other logs known to me for any kind of hint what have caused the reboot, but I can't find any helpfull information.
The machine also got an IPMI which shows no anomaly or voltage drop during that time.
/var/log/messages just shows the startup of the machine

May 28 01:45:59 freenas syslog-ng[1911]: syslog-ng starting up; version='3.5.6'
May 28 01:45:59 freenas Copyright (c) 1992-2014 The FreeBSD Project.

For me it looks like someone just cut the power for a second, but the system is hooked up to a UPS and the IPMI shows no anomaly

System Specs:
Supermicro Board, 32 GB ECC RAM
8x6TB WD-RED Disks
Build: FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201602031011
Platform: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU C2750 @ 2.40GHz

The only "change" I did in the last few days was using a ISCSI Target on the machine.

Maybe anyone of you guys have an idea where I can find more information on unexpeceted reboots, maybe some logfile not known to me has helpfull informations.

Thanks

Hello
The directory /data/crash is empty
So far no reboot happened, I will continue to look at it and maybe upgrade to 9.10 in the future

Id like to start by thanking for any help you can give and apologise if i've asked this in the wrong place.
I currently run freenas 9.3 with now no issues (well took lots of reading and learning)
I've tried to update to 9.10. I can successfully update but when it tries to start i hit issues. The machine hits a point on the black load up screen where it just reboots. I've now spent days of trying to read and find out why but with no success. I've Attached a picture from just where it then reboots. Also uploaded a video of it on to youtube so you can see. https://youtu.be/OZ4jL6y0hHc
I've tried fresh copies. Also tried different storage devices for the os.

Motherboard: Asus Z10PE-D16 WS
Ram: ECC Crucial 2x16 DDR4 model ct2k16g4rfd4213
Storage Drives: WD 6TB RED (disconnected in video to see if that was issue)
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon QEYP E5 2658 V3 ES 2.0-2.4Ghz 12 Core 24 threads 30MB 105W LGA2011-3
Boot Device: 2 sandisk 32GB usb's (which ive tried several different things)
Case: lianli-343B

Again many pre thanks. please keep in mind im not very technical but do do my best to learn.

Just a quick update to my case:
I've had another unexpected failure of the machine, it was still reachable over network, ping worked, but I was not able to access any datastore, it just hung without giving an error.
I still had a logged in console and was able to issue a command but nothing came back. A login via ssh just gave a blank screen. When I selected Shell from the local screen it also gave me no shell.
I think maybe the SSD which I used as a system drive ( OCZ Agility 3 ) may be the cause of this, I think that the drive is hanging and so the system crashes or just hangs endlessly.

Also no Log files were written. I will try to exchange the system disk and see what happens

Welcome to the forums.

What you've done here is post in the middle of someone else's thread, known as thread-jacking. It would be better to start your own thread, probably in "New to FreeNAS" rather than "Bug reporting", since there's nothing to indicate yet that you've encountered a bug in FreeNAS.

A quick update:
Its now 44 days since the last unexpected reboot, the exchange of the old SSD to an USB drive seemed to help.
