I built a freenas system and used 2x 500gb drives mirrored. I am now deconstructing the freenas system. Without regard to backing up any data, I don't care about what is on the ZFS drives, everything can be deleted; How do I format these back to NTFS so I can use them on a windows system as storage drives? I've been googling for hours... BIOS picks up the drive, but XP and Win 7 don't recognize it in the explorer.

Start -> control panel -> administrator tools -> computer management

Select disk management from the left side. On the right look for your unrecognized 500GB drives. Right click for options to configure them.

I was able to format NTFS using this method. I have about 20 tabs open with different searches and pages open looking for this, was stressing out thank you!
