I'm new user for FreeNas 8.3.0 and I'm creating this system for only few Windows XP clients.
I have only 1 volume (UFS) which is mounted on /mnt/Master
I created this environment with these 2 users:
My share path is '/mnt/Master' and it's called 'ShareAccess'
I'd like this behaviour:
- folder 'Public': any user can access (R/W) e.g. (guest, Tom, Jerry, ...)
- folder 'Tom': only users which belong to 'home' group can access (R/W)
- folder 'Jerry': only users which belong to 'home' group can access (R/W)
Users settings:
Volume settings:
Share settings:
I thought to create public access to "ShareAccess", to create these 3 folder (Tom, Jerry, Public) by my Windows client and assign them the correct rights.
What do you think about my doubt ? Can I create this system without ZFS ?

- I have to create 'guest' account ?
- What 'home directory' I have to set for Tom, Jerry, guest account ? What permissions ?
Volume settings:
- What 'owner' and 'group' I have to assign to volume ?
- What permission ?
Share settings:
- I have to activate 'Allow Guest Access' and 'Only Allow Guest Access' ?
