My boot drive is two Kingston Data Travelers. One of them appears to have failed so I am trying to replace it. When I click replace, I get the error message below. I tried the same with a Sandisk Cruzer and got the same result

[EFAULT] 'gpart create -s gpt -f active /dev/da2' failed: gpart: geom 'da2': File exists

Version 11.2

Hardware:
Supermicro X9
Xeon 1225v3
24GB Kensington ECC RAM
1x 8TB
1x 2TB

Are you attempting to do this from the GUI or from the command line?

Have you logged into the Legacy GUI and attempted from there?

It is a possibility that this represents a bug in the new GUI. Please work with us so we can figure this out.

Dumb questions:

Could you be attempting to replace the wrong device of the pair?

What is the indication that
One of them appears to have failed
?

It's definitely the right device.

The suspect USB drive shows as offline even when connected.

Ahhh..... I figured that would be the likely answer.

Have you tried rebooting the box with the bad key removed?
