Looking to move on from CORE to SCALE with a new build. Specifically want to continue my Plex media and storage but want to add virtualization for Blue Iris security so that I can merge several functions into 1 server.
My project so far will include the following
Supermicro X11SPL-F motherboard
Intel XEON Silver 4210 Processor 10 Core 20 Thread
Noctua NH-U12S DX-3647 CPU Cooler
4 - Samsung 32gb DDR4-266 ECC RDIMM (128gb total)
1 - Samsung NVME M.2 256gb SSD
Fractal Design Define 7 case

A bit rusty on the virtualization side so I wanted to make sure I had enough machine to handle everything with room to grow. Please let me know if this looks good and if I am missing anything. No HBA needed at this time as board can accommodate 6 drives.

Update...
Since I am not pressed about the NVME M.2 slot on this board could I go another route and try and older board with 2 cpu's and more memory?
Something like this to start

Supermicro X10DRI-T w/ dual XEON E5-2690v4 cpus
16 x 16 gb reg ECC DDR4 2133 mhz ram (for a total of 256 gb RAM)

Could that be a good starting point for me? I'm looking at probably 6 10tb drives and could possibly use the other 3-4 for virtualization? Does this make sense?
