And I know I can't get it back, but I want to see if anyone else can confirm this bug. Basically, I deleted the entire plugin via the GUI while my main ZFS dataset was mounted under the plugin jail. As far as I can tell, when I did so FreeNAS descended into that mounted directory, leavign the dataset intact but physically deleting every single file on it.

This obviously isn't appropriate behavior and I just wanted to make sure the right people know. I brought it up in IRC to defeaning silence.

I did a quick test on trunk, installed transmission plugin pbi, mounted /mnt/tank/test under /mnt inside plugin jail and then deleted the data.
It did not wipe any of it, everything in /mnt/tank/test was still there.

Can you describe in details the steps you took? The filesystem you used, the hierarchy of datasets (if ZFS), etc?

Also, you did delete the plugin, and not the plugins service (jail), right?

Thanks

Sorry about not getting back to you yesterday, but I'm glad you were able to confirm! Still looking forward to 8.2 final.

Hi All, I appear to have just struck this (or a similar) bug on FreeNAS-8.3.0-BETA3-x64 (r12457)

Similar Issue

I am not normally a Beta tester, but had to upgrade due to 8.3 Beta due to a bug in 8.2 final where Freenas would crash when ubuntu clients mounted an NFS export.

Anyway, Yesterday began looking at plugin jail to replace my download server. Here are the approximate steps I have taken:

Created 2 datasets: jail and software
Installed Jail FreeNAS-8.3.0-BETA3-x64.Plugins_Jail.pbi
Having trouble installing plugins "An error Occurred" woudl flash up att he top of the screen
Tried creating a mount point (to see if it helped - unfortunately that mount point source was my entier media dataset... ;(
still unable to install plugins, unable to see anything relavent in logs
deleted the jail, reinstalled. Still no luck
went to put on a tune while I worked through it - voila - no music.... All that was left in the Media share (NFS Export to Mac) was a folder called "plugins"
So, at this stage have shed a tear or two, and am wondering if it is gone forever... I do have backups of most of it, however they are not totally up to date.

I would be appreciative of any assistance to recover/restore the data, or at least to help ensure this issue (if a bug) can be resolved.

I have created bug 1825 to track this issue

Thanks,

Tim
