I haven't paid a dime for usenet-crawler.com, and seem to get a very high percentage of good downloads.

Do you use the "free" ones that shown in CouchPotato? If not, what are you using? I had those free ones enabled and had a striking number of bad or unusable downloads. I am now trying out a couple of others on free trials (NZBGeek is the one I like best so far). So far the resultant NZBs have pulled downloads that are in fact usable.

The only thing that doesn't seem to be 100% right is that in the initial "downloads" folder, a folder is created by SAB for every download. The cleanup process that CP does seems to get everything but the folder itself. A minor point really, but not sure why it's not cleaning up that final bit.

What do you have your CP settings in General for folder and file CHMOD set to? you may have to enable advanced settings to see this.

I told you in my post that I use usenet-crawler.com. Was something unclear about that?

Not particularly grumpy, but a bit confused why you quoted my post answering your question, and then proceeded to re-ask the same question.

I think my next project will be to research and attempt the installation and running of my own nzb indexer in a FreeNAS jail. I'm thinking nZEDb.

I think I've finally got this thing working right. Gobs of hours and internet searches later, reading and re-reading content because at first it didn't always compute. Now I have Sonarr working pretty well too. Thanks for all of the guidance!

...Music search:
Headphones - it's okay, quite slow. I prefer to search manually with Newztown, etc...

When you don't use Headphones, what do you use to post-process the music...to rename it properly and send it to the right folder? I am just now trying to use it and the one thing that keeps crapping out is the "musicbrainz" thing, seems you are almost locked into using that.

Musicbrainz Picard is a very good cross-platform post-processor.

I've only recently used it. Prior to that I just manually searched for cover art on Google Images or Allmusic.com and didn't worry about the file names other than manually naming the album folder.

Sweet! That's it. Looks pretty simple too. Thank you!
Would someone be able to explain what the advantages would be of running ones own indexer vs. using the free ones?
I also paid a small sum for VIP access to nzbgeek for lifetime, would a private indexer bring any advantages?

Sorry for the noob questions but I still haven't fully grasped the concept of indexers and usenet providers although I am able to successfully use them by now.

Thanks for some great info! I will be using both newgroups and torrents. Which torrent tool would you recommend? Bittorrent, Deluge, Utorrent, Transmisson, etc?

Up-time. I've had good success with Newztown and OZNZB (free).

Newztown is invite and I just checked and I don't have any right now otherwise I'd give you one. OZNZB is paid. It's well worth it as they are always up and they have a great rating system that can be integrated into SAB and you can then reject ratings under a certain star amount (3/5 for example).

Edit:OZNZB can be used for free but has a limited # of lookups per day.
