The forums are HORRIBLY slow

Is there anything bad going on with the server(s) in the past, say, two weeks? (I haven't been here for quite some time before that so it's possibly longer)
Everything is so slow I sometimes wonder whether I have connection problems. It takes up to five seconds for the forums to fully load. Opening any category or thread takes three seconds (timed).
And no, my connection is just fine :)

This smells like DNS. What are you using for DNS service? I don't see your forum issues using OpenDNS.

Considering it's just this one site being this bad, I think it's safe to say it's not a problem on my end.

No issues here with Safari. Maybe try another browser, or clear DNS cache in client and FW?

Same story with Firefox. Clicking on anything takes three seconds to load it fully.

Try running a F12 browser network trace, to see where you're experiencing the delays. It's probably in some of the forum JavaScripts pointing to 3rd-party analytics.

F12 will bring up the developer tools. Select the network tab, and then try browsing to the forums. You'll see the order in which site content loads and how long each piece of content takes to load.

Everything is loading correctly, but very slowly, almost 2 orders of magnitude slower than it should. This sounds like a overloaded link somewhere in the path between you and the SDN that delivers the forum content. What do you see with a traceroute to www.truenas.com?

I'm not sure about that, the roughly +100ms is the usual delay when accessing websites physically hosted in the U.S. The increase supposedly still in Europe is weird, but the resulting ping would be 100-150ms anyway.
And there is no loss either, so the problem should be something entirely different. But that's not something I can troubleshoot any further :(
