From a guy who used to write BASIC on a Commodore 64, to being a mechanic, to being a IT field service guy after a very, very expensive degree, and now a machinist.... It took me a total of 24 hours to go from downloading the .ISO to having a running mirrored pair of WD Red Pro HDD's and Windows 10 share on a legacy Intel 955 motherboard not including the old board build, new fans, upgrade to 8 gig ddr2 667 EEC memory, etc.

I was running my old internal NAS on Centos 6.2 with no redundancy and saw the writing on the wall. Did my research, slapped some old synapses back in to effect and everything is running great. Biggest road block I had was trying to load 11.3 from my burned .ISO... I back tracked to 9.3, loaded fine, then found out only 9.1 was supported? Loaded 9.1, upgraded to 11.1 via the gui and stable so far!

Presently in the process of writing all my old data, about 1.5 TB of files and it's running just fine, no crazy dips like I had before and the old Pentium 4 is just chugging along long, not even using 40%.

Yes, 20mps isn't exactly screaming, but it's also from my shop via wireless 150' away from my wireless router.

Oh, the big dip is when I was making some changes to my router...
In closing, a bit of a learning curve, but hey It's free!

Once the caps pop on the old Intel 955 motherboard PCIe x16 slot, for my vid card... I know nothing extravagant is needed, but I used to overclock for fun... (Like doing 140 in a 75 when I could see 2 miles ahead) I'll move this to my Asus P8Z68-M_PRO with a core I5 and SATA 3.0 support.
