If you're trying to make the most of your two 10Gb/s network ports you're going to have to design your pools for speed, make sure the network is set up correctly, and be sure you're using a load that makes use of both interfaces. It may be difficult to accomplish with your setup depending on the number of drives and type you're using.

I'd definitely be interested to see a build and performance report when you're done.

Well… I am a total newbie and the more I read the more confusing it is.
I have 8 x 6TB sas drives. I gathered that I could have 2 different pools.
One for speed, one for redundancy but how many drives for each pool?
I plan to have virtual machines, all of my movies, and as a photographer all my photos.
I plan to edit the pictures directly from FreeNAS if possible.
The box will be connected to a 8 ports SFP+ Microtek switch by optical fibers.
My home theater and all the TVs will be connected to another Microtek 24 Gigabit ports + 2SFP+ switch.
I don't see any device that will max the 10Gb/s network but maybe in the future…with 8K content?

I was going to read a bit further but was planning to setup 8 drives to get to know the system.
