Hello all. After a long try out with OMV im back to freenas. hope I can solve some issue i had with OMV.

Now I wonder if I can read in or import in my existing raid 5 (onboard raid controller). I can change it later
as soon as I got 5tb cloud storage, where my movies and music files dont get deleted (I own over 600 dvds and bluerays and allot of music CDs). around 90% have been digitalised by myself.

Is it possible to read/import the raid5 without loosing the data on it? Else I will wait until I have the cloud storage and will format them to ZFS.

Many thanks for a quick answer, as my search brought up many links but none of them answered my questions,.

As far as I know this isn't possible. The import function in FreeNAS is meant to be a tool for importing data from a single non-ZFS disk to an existing ZFS pool (which you apparently don't have at this time).

Please use German language if you continue to post in the German forum or use the English sections of the FreeNAS forum.

well then I will buy storage of Mega and upload it there first. I really disappointed about OMV as I installed freenas already on a disk and it worked like a charm (with Grub).
That did not work with OMV from stick nor from CD. Thank you for the fast answer.
