I have a pretty beefy home lab, but I’m not sure if it will last. I’ll post my setup, what I’m running, and observed temps/utilization. I’m looking for feedback that informs me of the longevity of my gear… Am I looking at an unexpected future failure, or will it likely hold for a while? If not, should I bail on the entire machine and start from scratch, or only target a few hardware items? The most used apps are Home Assistant and the SMB Shares.

Current Rig:
MOBO: MSI B550 Gaming Plus
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X (12 core), L1 768kb, L2, 6MB, L3 64MB
RAM: 128GB (non ECC)
STORAGE: 4X 4TB WD40EFZX-68A (RAIDZ1); 1x2TB NVME WD BLACK SN850X
BOOT: 1X500GB NVME WD BLUE SN570

What’s running:
Services: 6x SMB Shares (7TB), FTP Server (1GB Daily), VPN Server, SMB (2 external users),
Virtual Machines: 5x (3 WordPress websites (very light traffic), Minecraft server (2 daily users), FiveM Server (0 daily users)
Apps: Traefix, Jellyfin, Blocky, PhotoPrism, ZwaveJS, Netdata, Home-Assistant, 3x External apps (website support).
Docker-container/webapp supporting website backend calculations

How’s it performing:
