Hi! I´m new to FreeNAS. I have 2x3tb WD Red in Mirror. When I finished installing FreeNAS I had like 2.7/2.8tb of space available. Now it says I only have 1.4 available. Can someone tell me why? could be having two datasets in one volume the problem? Thank you.-

You are using storage that's why you have less. Are you also using snapshots?

Thanks for the quick reply! Not using yet.. just installed it.

but if I add 1.4tb and the 656gb I used.. that's like 2tb, still missing 0.8tb :/

The important part of my question was about snapshots, are you using them?

Output of zfs list? The top dataset shows total space and the next one show storage that's usable.

the only thing I copied is the 656g.. thats 32%, and should be the total! but I dont know why it changes from 32% to 48% at the raid1

Can you use this calculator? It sure looks like to me that you have a single drive not 2 drives. Do you know how to use the cli? Can you give the output of zpool status and zfs list?

I just used it. 2.729 says, thats what I had before! I´m missing 0.7tb :/

I can erase the raid and do it again.. but I want to know what happened cause if I copy all into the NAS and this happens again, I´m f*ckd

Nothing happened, it was either setup incorrectly or this is an assumption that is wrong. In the gui there is a shell icon you can select and run those commands, you should be able to copy past the output or screenshot it. You might have to make the terminal window larger to capture it all.

I deleted the Raid and did it again... now its showing the 2.7tb. Hopefully that doesnt happen again! Still much to learn with FreeNAS.. I´m sure you will see me around again haha
Thank you for your help!

Oh.. one more thing! Before this happened I installed 2 plugins.. and a "jails" folder was created in the dataset. Is that normal?

You keep acting like this randomly happened. Software and especially FreeNAS does not do things randomly. You set up your system with a single drive on accident. The second time you did it you correctly selected 2 drives to create your mirror.

While I have you, you need to make sure you burn in those drives(3days), burn in your memory, burn in your cpu, configure smart tests, configure emails, configure your ups and practice replacing a drive for when it fails.

yes plugins get installed into a dataset.

I have to search for what you mean with "Burn in" drives, memory and cpu..

If one drive fails.. I replace it and I have to do anything else? or FreeNAS does the rebuild alone?

You should start by reading all the threads in my signature and then read the freenas manual.
