Hi,

I'm trying to set up Webmin inside a freenas jail. If set up without using SSL then it works fine and I can access Webmin no problem through the browser, however, if I select to install it selecting SSL then it states that the browser can not access webmin as it can not establish a secure connection so I can't get to the panel.

Does anyone have any ideas or come across this problem before?

Thanks

No clue what webadmin is but to configure ssl you are going to need to setup ssl certificates and configure your application to use then.

Is there an 'advanced' link or similar in the browser when you try? If so, click that and you should be able to connect. Essentially, webmin is using a self-signed certificate, and your browser doesn't trust it, but you can tell your browser that you know what you're doing.

There is and I've switched it on. The certs are all set up by webmin itself on setup. I understand about the browser not trusting the cert, however, its not giving me any option to say I do trust it but just saying can't establish a secure connection

This is really a webmin question, not a FreeNAS question, so you'll probably be better off asking them for help with it. But what are you trying to do with webmin in a jail anyway? That just sounds like a recipe for trouble.

Are you using chrome? Try a different browser that isn't as security focused and allows you to do things that are less secure, like IE.

When I was using SSL with webmin I had to bypass the security warning every time in Chrome. There was no way to trust it permanently. In the end I stopped using SSL with webmin (on my LAN).

Are you saying you can't even get past the warning? If so, please post a screenshot.
