[SOLVED] Time Machine doesn't find AFP share. Help please!!!

I've setup FreeNas 9.2.1.5 x 64 following the manual's instructions. However, my
MacBookPro 11,3 Mavericks System Version: OS X 10.9.4 (13E28) Kernel Version: Darwin 13.3.0 doesn't want to find the AFP share I've setup for Time Machine. I get an error saying: No configured AirPort base stations have been found. AirPort Utility will continue searching.

The shares I've setup are available when I connect to the server using Finder. It's just Time Machine not finding any available shares/drives in the network.

Did you check the Time Machine box in the relevant AFP share settings? That's the only extra thing I had to do to get Time Machine to see it.

Not sure what role AirPort Utility has to play in this. It wasn't part of my process when setting up Time Machine destinations in FreeNAS.

Thanks for your response Robert. What version of OSX and freenas are you running? I'm going to System Preferences and click on Time Machine. A window shows up that is the same as in the freenas manual. then I click on the on switch and a drop down window shows me the option to "Other Time Capsule" as the only option. I then get a window where it seems to be searching for something and then after a few seconds it says "No configured AirPort base stations...".

I followed the FreeNAS manual steps closely and did it over a couple of times but still cannot get time machine working.

OS X 10.9.4 Mavericks, FreeNAS-9.2.1.5-RELEASE-x64 (80c1d35).

When I check the Time Machine setting on an AFP share, then I go to Time Machine Preferences on the Mac and click Select Disk, it shows up under Available Disks.

I've finally figured out the problem. I had my freenas server turned off until today and when I checked the permissions on the Time Machine share I had created, it was still set for root only. It's probably an obvious thing for most but it is important to connect to the freenas server in Finder before you try to setup Time Machine. Thanks to Robert Trevellyan for his replies.
