Solar Roadways... bad investment

Nice to see FreeNAS looking for and supporting promising ideas that can better our future (http://www.freenas.org/whats-new/2014/05/freenas-supports-solar-roadways.html).

Unfortunately I suspect Solar Roadways however was a poor choice for funding - there are just too many fundamental (and obvious) flaws with their proposal. This video does a pretty good job of breaking them down:

I think it's viable in certain areas.. Just how costly is always the real question.. I'm not so convinced on it being plough safe or that durable and yet safe/non-slippery..

Yeah, it is definitely a step in the right direction. It is interesting enough that GE has invested previously and the Federal Highway Administration has funded the project prior to the Kickstarter.

I have spoken to the 2 founders and they are passionate about the effort and certainly don't appear to be in it for the money.

They already have several beta sites prepped and ready to go. Let the science begin!

It was a very small donation amount (from my personal account), and worth it to see what happens. As you can see from the kickstarter page, they made a video for everyone that sponsored at $100 ;)
