Snapshot replication and file availability

When replicating a largeish snapshot (say 8TB) from a source TrueNAS server to a Target trueNAS server, when does that data become available on the target? Does it trickle in and start being visible right away to users (say af an SMB share), or is none of the data available until the end of the replication process?

Also, what happens if the replication fails part way through? Will any of the partial transfer be available, or will none of it be available until a fully successful replication?

I'm asking partly because I see threads about not being able to access data after a replication due to permissions or other issues. This is my first replication and I'd hate go through the time and system demand of transferring a large amount of data only to find I can't access it for some stupid reason on my part. Nothing should be encrypted-- the datasets don't need to be encrypted, nor does the SSH connection.
