Hi,
I'm having issues with S.M.A.R.T. not starting and it seems this file is the issue. on line 84 it has 'root' just on its own. I've deleted the line (leaving the same gap as others) and it rewrites itself back into the line. I try to start the SMART service and it wont start stating this error. What could be causing this and how would I fix it? I'm not a linux person so Ive been trying to do what I can to fix it.

I've found the issue by comparing it to another identical drive. it seems there was a setting in the s.m.a.r.t. extra options just as root for some reason. I've removed that and it now loads the service perfectly fine.

Some password managers will autofill some of the pages in the GUI with the root login information and if you're not careful, those can be saved.
