Smaller bootdisk

I just installed FreeNAS 11.2 and if I didn't miss it altogether I got no choice how much of the installation disk I wanted to use.

I have a 2tb Seagate Firecuda and would have liked to use some of that space for something else.

Is this possible to fix afterwards?

Sincerely

Makes you wonder why they bother writing the manual...

FreeNAS is designed to be booted from a small flash device--originally that would have been a USB stick; today a small-ish SSD is recommended (though the USB stick will still work). And, as the installer tells you, and the manual tells you, it will use the entire boot device; none of the space on that device will be available for sharing or other purposes.

Back up your config, reinstall to a different boot device, restore the config, wipe your firecuda, use it as pool storage as you originally desired.

You will need to take care about boot device selection during the process.
