Hello,

on my FreeNAS system (11.1-U1) a sendmail process is causing permanently between 25-45% cpu load
Code:
admin@freenas[17:40][/var/spool/mqueue]: ps aux | grep sendmail
smmsp 11697 32.8 0.5 102092 80052 - RsJ 07:42	222:12.64 sendmail: ./w1GLjZcN006509 from queue (sendmail)
root 10624 0.0 0.0 24156 3684 - SsJ Sun16 0:03.20 sendmail: accepting connections (sendmail)
smmsp 10628 0.0 0.0 24156 3336 - IsJ Sun16 0:00.06 sendmail: Queue runner@00:30:00 for /var/spool/clientmqueue (sendmail)

any idea why this is happening?

Regards

Henning

Got any scripts that send mail?

Hi Ericloewe,

yes, I have the SMART and pool report scripts set up and I have a Icinga installation running in a jail that sends mails to me. But the sending frequency is not that high...

I have the same issue with 11.2 released version. Mail works fine and there isn't anything queued up to be sent, but sendmail sits there consuming CPU all the time. On my low end system it's about 25% of the available CPU. If I stop sendmail, it gets started up again fine when any of the standard tasks to send mail fire up, mails come through, but then sendmail again sits using the CPU all the time.
