Well the test and dinking around freenas i acquired kicked the bucket today. As far as i can tell the MB died (everything else works on other server) DUN DUNN DUnnnnn.

Mb: super x8dte-f
case: supermicro 933 old style with fan voltage mod (SO much quieter)
Ram: 20442MB
cpus: intel xeon L5630
hdds: 4 6tb hgst nas
LSI SAS 9210-8i
hstnmb017
hp0811c1

She ran for a solid 2 months of Dumb Wat is FreeNAS testing by me after a solid 3ish year run from family.

SO!

Planning on parting the sucker out and purchasing a simpler bullet/silent setup.
Might still keep it in a rack mount config with all the other PCs and server butttt who knows.

Had to share cause these freaking forums helped a lot in my mess ups and corrections.

Oddly ran into this build and have some of the parts soooo i might copy it even if its a year old. https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/pherans-32tb-freenas-build-with-photos.35694/

Woot woot

Too bad, but even old hardware has to die some time.

Sometimes I think it's better if it does because I'm such a pack rat I won't throw anything away that's still working. :D

True true plus with old hardware i dont feel bad about abusing it to test things out!

Holy crap i just realized i COULD try and import the pool from the dead freenas on the fresh build if i wanted to try that as well....

Yes you can. Your pool and data will still be intact.
