Reversing Replication

I have setup a new box and replication to transfer the data.
Now i want to make the new box the primary one.
in order to have still the old as updated Fallback version, can i simply disable snapshots an replication on the old and setup on th new with direction to the old?

Yes. I deleted stopped the old snapshot tasks(cretion/replication), deleted the snaptshot on both sides and set them newly up.
