I have another question. There seems to be a misunderstanding between me and the WD Support Agent who tries to help me. He asked:
To replace the drive with an exact model, I will need some information about the device (device model or name) and what kind of mode the RAIDs are used in it. I will also need your shipping address so we can send the drive to you. Once you provide me with these, I can make a case and escalate.
So I wrote back:
"It is a WD30EFRX disk with 3.0TB. It was configured as a Mirror with another WD 3TB disk and last month I added 2 Seagate 3TB drives that mirror each other as well." After a few days of quiet I reposted the answer, but then he replied asking the very same information:
I will have a couple of more pieces of information I need: I will need the model of the RAID device, what mode is it in and how many drives are inside the device. This will help me with figuring out the process to exchange the drive.
So I wrote back:
"The RAID device is a FreeNAS server that had 4 drives in it. Each pair was mirrored with a drive of the same type and brand. The NAS is not an off-the-shelf device. FreeNAS is intended to turn a normal PC into a NAS server."
Again I posted this twice because he became quiet and I am still waiting for a response.
Am I providing the wrong information? I don't know what remains unanswered. How should I have responded?
